The Original Tee Golf Classic (OTGC) is a premier
celebrity/amateur tournament created to celebrate the African American golf
enthusiast and pay homage to pioneers in the game of golf. Its vision is to
bring together a culturally diverse mix of urban professionals to an exciting
tournament reflecting their lifestyle preferences.
In its 12th year, this two-day event draws over 300 golf
enthusiasts from across the country, representing leaders in business, finance,
entertainment, sports and technology. A portion of the proceeds raised will be donated to The
Bill Dickey Scholarship Association and the American Cancer Society.
The True Original Award
The Original Tee Golf Classic established the True Original Award to recognize pioneers and
trailblazers in the African American community. We proudly presented the 2011 True Original Award to Samuel "Mr. Clutch" Jones, one of the 50 Greatest NBA Players. Our 2008 Award went to Julius "Dr. J" Erving, with the award dinner hosted by Anthony Anderson, host of Golf Channel's Golf In America. Our 2007 Honoree was Dr. Charles L. Sifford.
The Bill Dickey Scholarship Association
American Cancer Society
Building hope, one stroke at a time. The mission of The Bill Dickey Scholarship Assn. (BDSA)
is to increase the participation of minority youngsters in the sport of golf as
well as provide financial assistance in support of their efforts to experience
the extraordinary advantages of education and opportunity.
Over the years, the OTGC has proudly donated over
$60,000 to the BDSA.
The American Cancer Society funds the most innovative,
groundbreaking research so future generations need never experience the loss
associated with cancer. They are the nation’s largest private, not-for-profit
source of funding for cancer research. Their research programs have resulted in
saving literally millions of lives. The ACS continues to invest in the most
promising programs until they achieve their ultimate goal - the elimination of
cancer.
